Manish was raised in Portsmouth and attended Buckland Middle School (Flying Bull Primary), The City of Portsmouth Boys School, now known as Trafalgar School in Hilsea and attended Havant College taking the classic A-Levels for Medical Students, Maths, Chemistry and Biology. Manish was inspired by his teachers and always had ambitions of wanting to be a doctor. Manish was the first member of his family to attend university. He gained his medical degree in 1999 at Kings College, London and later completed an DM at the University of Southampton.
Both Manish’s parents were immigrants to the country and he considers himself as having come from working class roots. He is proud to be associated with the City of Portsmouth and felt that there was a need to enable youngsters in the city to have access to the best support networks in achieving their goals to become the next generation of doctors. It is difficult to know where to start with an application to Medical School if you don’t have connections through family and friends who have experiences with the process. The Dr Mike King Trust was set up to tear down the barriers for many youngsters on their journey to becoming the doctors of tomorrow
